In the USA, 20 teens will die today in car accidents. The mission of Street Survival® is to teach teenagers safe driving in today's modern urban environment. Automobile accidents are the leading cause of death among 13- to 19-year-olds in the U.S. – more than from drugs, guns and violent crimes COMBINED! And a whopping 62% of all teenage automobile passenger deaths occurred in vehicles driven by another teen!
Street Survival is unique in that it is a nationwide "hands-on" driving school for teens that provides them with real-world emergency situations related to car safety and the control of their own vehicles. In 2009, the Foundation held 79 Street Survival schools across the U.S. in many urban communities. With your help, we can reach our goal of 85 schools for 2010. Please help support Street Survival for Teens. |

MotorTrend - 2010 One Lap of America: The Rise of the Giant-Killers at Mid-America
"Yet there were four bewildering performances by newbie teams, aka "Lap Pups" as they're affectionately been dubbed. The highlights follow. 1990 BMW 325is BMW is easily the most represented brand this year. The One Lap crew is using a fleet of 5 and 3 Series graciously provided by the BMW Performance School, and there's a small army of M-badged coupes and roadsters flooding the pits. The fastest one, though, is a 1990 325is. It's sitting comfy at 12th overall right now after two top ten finishes today. How? It's stupid fast. "It's above 400-horse -- probably 450 to 500 horsepower," says car owner and builder Kevin Kreisa. The engine is a straight-six from an E36 328i with an 82 millimeter Garrett GT35 turbocharger feeding air to Extrudabody individual throttle bodies. All the plumbing, in fact most of the car, is Kreisa's handiwork: He fabricated it all with hand tools in his shop, DTR Performance. At 2750 pounds in race trim, the Bimmer's exceptionally light too. Driver Anthony Magagnoli, a regular Spec E30 racer, was "well into fifth" at Road America yesterday, putting speed at above 150 mph. "I was genuinely concerned for my life," he said -- it was his first time there. Despite using technology two decades old, first-time One Lappers Magagnoli and Kreisa are clobbering genuine giants. Their cumulative lap times for both events today bested those of both a Porsche GT3 RS and a Turbo." Read more at: http://blogs.motortrend.com/6674511/
